A Quality Exterior Painting Job

The Importance of Exterior Painting

Navy Exterior Paint Color: “Benjamin Moore’s Evening Dove 2128-30″
DeGraw & DeHaan Architect

A good exterior paint job serves two purposes.  First, it beautifies and adds personality and value to your house.  Second, and most importantly, paint serves as one of your home’s primary lines of defense against weather, insects and other damage; making it an important aspect of home maintenance to keep up on.

At Hubley Painting  and Carpentry, our goal is to provide a long lasting, durable, and beautiful finish on your home. With any type of project, the key to success is in the details. Using the right primers when warranted, meticulous prep work on the exterior of your home, and a spray brush finish. We wanted to share with you some information on the process so you can understand the value brought to the homeowner when you work with us.

Identify Carpentry Issues

When Steve Hubley comes to your home to provide a quote, he is not only looking at the scope of the project but also investigating any carpentry issues. His main goal is to uncover any underlying issues and provide a solution to any part of your home that is exposed or in danger of being compromised. We are proud of the product we produce and warranty our exterior paint job for 5 years.

It is important for any rotted wood on the home to be addressed. Replacing any compromised wood prevents water damage from happening inside your home. If there are carpentry issues, our skilled carpenter will address them as though they were never there.

Prep the Surface

After the carpentry work is completed, the painting crew takes over prepping the exterior.  A  good adhesive surface is important to increase the longevity of the paint job.

Once the home has been prepped, painting begins.  The crew will spray the exterior with high-end paint and then take to scaffolding to brush the paint in.  This step allows the seams to be filled with paint as another method of defense.  Plenty of time will be given between coats to allow the paint to dry and bond so the surface is properly cured.

The price of painting the exterior of a home can be costly but when you work with Hubley Painting and Carpentry, you get the value back in a beautiful home that is protected from the elements.

It has been so nice to see the sun again and feel its warmth.  The season of outdoor living is now upon us.

The problem with being outside more is we start to notice issues on the exterior of the home.  We specialize in exterior painting and exterior carpentry.  Our crew brought back life to our client’s home in Ashland updating his deck and sunporch.  They dealt with issues under the siding before painting the exterior of his home to add value and protect it from the New England elements.

He and his family love spending time on the deck and sunporch in the warmer months.  Check it out and let us know what you think. Interested in transforming the exterior of your home, contact us today through our website.

2017 Kitchen Trends

The most in-demand service Hubley Painting & Carpentry offers is kitchen cabinet painting.  We have been brushing up on the trends for kitchens in 2017 so we can properly guide our clients in their decision making process.  We thought we would share some of our favorites with you and some inspiring photos we found online.

  1. Colorful cabinetry

From Houzz: White kitchens aren’t going anywhere, according to both designers andHouzz research. But designer Jane Lockhart admits that we’ll start to see more color in cabinetry, including navy, black, deep charcoals and cream colors. “Navy and dark colors will be on lower cabinets and islands to contrast with lighter neutrals on uppers,” she says.

  2. Built-in Bars

From Zillow: Stemming from 2016’s popular bar cart trend, homeowners next year will look for a more permanent solution for entertaining within their home. From built-in shelving for craft cocktail fixings, to a small bar seating area, homeowners are enjoying decorating and hosting more classic parties, and will seek ways to make these spaces more of a focal point within the home.

  3. Quartz Countertops

From Scott McGillivrays: In the kitchen Quartz is a great idea for a few reasons – it looks great, it’s incredibly durable and it won’t scratch or stain. So while it may be considered trendy at the moment, I fully expect Quartz to stick around for the long haul.

  4. Single-Level Islands

From Better Homes & Gardens: When keeping an open layout, single-level islands allow light to seamlessly stream through a space. Not only do counter-height islands increase the intimacy of a kitchen, they also expand valuable prep space.

A single level island opens up the space and invites guests in to the heart of the home. Better Homes and Gardens

Interested in incorporated some of these trends into your kitchen? Hubley Painting and Carpentry can help.  Our carpenter Alex can transform your island – enlarging it, repurposing it or adding a beautiful new facade.  Clients have also had Alex transform microwave cabinets into custom range hoods that are a focal point of the room.  When Alex is done, our cabinet painting crew will unite the space with paint.  The possibilities are endless so call us today to find out how we can transform your kitchen.

Kitchen Cabinets – Crown Molding Is A Must!

Kitchen Crown Molding

One of the popular upgrades we can make to kitchen cabinets prior to painting them is installing crown moldings at the top of the cabinets. This makes ordinary kitchen cabinets look and feel more custom once painted. On many kitchen cabinets above the sink is a valance. Even worse is when this valance is “wavy”. We remove the valance and return the crown to the walls. This is a relatively simple thing to do but has a major affect on the over look of the cabinets. It makes your mundane and ordinary kitchen look much more custom.
