Milton Client Makes their House a Home

Our clients moved into a beautiful home in Milton.  It offered lots of space for entertaining and for their growing family but the house needed updates and some customization to meet the needs of the homeowners.  The Hubley team worked hard to transform this house into the space our clients envisioned.

Throughout the house, the floors were given a darker stain.  In the foyer, the post at the bottom of the railing was customized for a more contemporary look and a coat of paint was added to the walls to freshen the space.

The original kitchen was beautifully designed with lots of storage and prep space but the homeowners wanted it to feel brighter and more open.  The cabinets were painted and new counters and backsplash were installed to achieve this look.  Crown molding was added to the soffits to give the kitchen more stature.

The home had a great pantry space but it wasn’t functional for the homeowners. We think the end result is beautiful and offers so much usable storage for this family.

The living room boasts the biggest transformation.  Updates to the coiffured ceiling and the built-ins make this space look amazing.  We love how the cabinetry beautifully incorporates the windows.  The custom features of this room makes it look grand and more befitting of this home.

The third floor was unfinished when the home was purchased.  Flooring was put in, drywall hung, baseboards added and railings installed.  Built-in cabinetry at one end of the room will be ideal for toys, media equipment or storage depending on how the homeowners choose to use this new space.

In the bedroom, our carpenters updated built-ins to make the storage more functional for the homeowners and incorporated the TV into the space for some late night binge watching.

Hubley painting can customize your space so it meets the needs of your family and feels more like home.

Painting Radically Transforms a Space

Painting is the best way to transform a space.  While painting is considered a cosmetic change, a fresh coat of paint can have radical impact and is inexpensive and simple in comparison to renovation.  Paint can change the appearance, style and mood of a space.  Deep, rich tones give a room depth and character while soft neutrals bring a sense of calm to a space.

As painters, we have the opportunity to see incredible transformations each day so we know the power of paint.   But, if you don’t believe us, let these images paint a picture.  (Pun intended!)

Interior Painting: Before and Afters

It is hard to believe this before and after are the same room.  Painting the brick, beams and paneling brought this room from dark and dated to light and bright.  The new flooring added warmth.

Young House Love

Changes were made to this kitchen before painting to update the space and make it more functional.  The island was expanded.  Cabinets were repurposed to fit new appliances and a beautiful range hood and new glass cabinets were built to heighten the space.  Our skilled carpenter can transform your kitchen space before our cabinet crew does the painting.

House Beautiful

Household chores become a little easier when you have a bright and happy space to work in.  This laundry room makeover simply involved painting the walls, cabinets and changing out the light fixture.  Now it is a space anyone would be happy to do laundry in.

Life on Virginia Street

This paint transformation is the most striking especially since the color change was not that drastic.  Going from a beige to a grey lightened the space.  Even the couch and furniture pieces look brighter.

Repurposing a Kitchen Space

A Farmhouse Kitchen

Last spring we had the privilege of partnering with Bees Knees Interior Design on one of our client projects.  Anne-Marie, the homeowner, wanted to open and lighten up her kitchen as well as add design elements that brought some farmhouse character to the space.  We think it turned out fantastic!

Before:

After:

Carpentry Details

Our carpenter’s work can be seen throughout this room.  In order to give the homeowner some more space in the kitchen, an additional cabinet was added which features open shelving and a plate rack and closed storage below.  The island was extended, widened and given a new façade to add to the character of the space.  Every farmhouse kitchen needs a farmhouse sink so our carpenter repurposed the cabinet to to allow for the sink.

The room feels taller with the addition of the soffit over the cabinets drawing the eye right up to the ceiling.  We love how the Bees carried the soffit over the slider and framed the view with beautiful curtains that give a nod to the island.  On the other side of the curtains, a narrow bank of cabinets was built to balance the space.

A range hood blends seamlessly with the cabinetry replacing the microwave which was given a new home in a cabinet beside refrigerator.  Finally, we love addition of the sweet corbels below all the upper cabinets.

Open Concept

Our crew opened this wall to allow a better view into the kitchen from the dining room.  With such a beautiful kitchen, who wouldn’t want it to be viewed from every spot in the house.

Interested in giving your kitchen a facelift?  We’d be happy to meet with you to discuss all the possibilities your kitchen holds.  We also offer a complimentary hour consult with our in-house designer.

A Quality Exterior Painting Job

The Importance of Exterior Painting

Navy Exterior Paint Color: “Benjamin Moore’s Evening Dove 2128-30″
DeGraw & DeHaan Architect

A good exterior paint job serves two purposes.  First, it beautifies and adds personality and value to your house.  Second, and most importantly, paint serves as one of your home’s primary lines of defense against weather, insects and other damage; making it an important aspect of home maintenance to keep up on.

At Hubley Painting  and Carpentry, our goal is to provide a long lasting, durable, and beautiful finish on your home. With any type of project, the key to success is in the details. Using the right primers when warranted, meticulous prep work on the exterior of your home, and a spray brush finish. We wanted to share with you some information on the process so you can understand the value brought to the homeowner when you work with us.

Identify Carpentry Issues

When Steve Hubley comes to your home to provide a quote, he is not only looking at the scope of the project but also investigating any carpentry issues. His main goal is to uncover any underlying issues and provide a solution to any part of your home that is exposed or in danger of being compromised. We are proud of the product we produce and warranty our exterior paint job for 5 years.

It is important for any rotted wood on the home to be addressed. Replacing any compromised wood prevents water damage from happening inside your home. If there are carpentry issues, our skilled carpenter will address them as though they were never there.

Prep the Surface

After the carpentry work is completed, the painting crew takes over prepping the exterior.  A  good adhesive surface is important to increase the longevity of the paint job.

Spray and Brush on Paint

Once the home has been prepped, painting begins.  The crew will spray the exterior with high-end paint and then take to scaffolding to brush the paint in.  This step allows the seams to be filled with paint as another method of defense.  Plenty of time will be given between coats to allow the paint to dry and bond so the surface is properly cured.

The price of painting the exterior of a home can be costly but when you work with Hubley Painting and Carpentry, you get the value back in a beautiful home that is protected from the elements.

Outdoor Living – Deck and Sunporch Renovation

Deck and Sunporch Update

It has been so nice to see the sun again and feel its warmth.  The season of outdoor living is now upon us.

The problem with being outside more is we start to notice issues on the exterior of the home.  We specialize in exterior painting and exterior carpentry.  Our crew brought back life to our client’s home in Ashland updating his deck and sunporch.  They dealt with issues under the siding before painting the exterior of his home to add value and protect it from the New England elements.

He and his family love spending time on the deck and sunporch in the warmer months.  Check it out and let us know what you think. Interested in transforming the exterior of your home, contact us today through our website.
