A Hopkinton Family Bathroom Remodel

A family bathroom gets used hard. Morning routines, after-school cleanups, post-practice showers, the constant in-and-out of kids at every stage — it's one of the most trafficked rooms in the house, and when it isn't working, everyone feels it.

The family in this Hopkinton home knew that feeling well. Their shared bathroom was functional, but it wasn't keeping up. So they called us — and together with designer Michelle Litavis of ATL Art Associates, we set out to build something that would.

The Starting Point

The original bathroom was a long, narrow space with a three-sink vanity that left surprisingly little usable counter space, a tub-shower combo with a curtain, and a recessed nook across from the vanity that had quietly become a catch-all for everything without a better home — backpacks, towels, and clothes that almost made it to the hamper.

The bones were solid. The layout made sense. What the space needed was a redesign that took the reality of a busy family seriously.

Two Sinks, More Space

One of the first things Michelle recommended was counterintuitive: going from three sinks down to two. But the logic is straightforward. Three sinks on a single vanity meant very little counter space between them — not enough room for the everyday chaos of a family getting ready and moving through their day. Two sinks, thoughtfully spaced, freed up real working room on either side and made it possible for more than one person to use the vanity comfortably at the same time.

The new vanity is custom built in a soft sage green with shaker-style doors, generous drawer storage, and matte black hardware throughout. Quartz countertops in a soft white keep the look clean and easy to maintain. Warm wood-framed mirrors and modern sconce lighting above each sink add warmth without sacrificing function.

Out with the Tub, In with the Shower

The tub-shower combo had served its purpose, but this family was ready for something better. In its place: a generous walk-in shower tiled in large-format glossy subway tile with a built-in full-length niche shelf illuminated by recessed LED strip lighting underneath. A penny tile floor, frameless glass enclosure, and matte black fixtures — including a rainfall showerhead and handheld — make it a shower that works for every member of the family. Grab bars were integrated into the design from the start, blending with the hardware and building in accessibility that will matter more as time goes on.

The Nook that Finally Has a Job

Across from the vanity, there had always been a recessed nook that had never quite found its purpose. We built custom tip-out laundry hampers into the space, fitted with fabric bags that pull out for easy transport. Closed, the doors look like clean cabinet fronts. Open, there's a clear, dedicated place for clothes to go. It's a practical solution that fits the way this family actually moves through the room — and it keeps the floor clear without anyone having to think about it.

The Details That Tie It Together

Matte black hardware runs consistently throughout — faucets, towel bars, toilet paper holder, door hardware, cabinet pulls — creating a cohesive look that feels intentional without being fussy. Dark charcoal floor tile grounds the room and makes the sage cabinetry and white walls feel crisp. A soft geometric window valance adds just enough warmth to keep the space from feeling cold.

The result is a bathroom that's genuinely built for a family in motion — one that looks polished, functions efficiently, and will keep doing both for years to come.

Some spaces have everything they need to be great — and just need the right team to get them there. That's exactly the story of this guest bathroom in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

The existing bathroom wasn't without its merits. It had a generous footprint, a vaulted ceiling, and a beautiful skylight that flooded the space with natural light. But the fiberglass tub surround, sage green walls, dated chrome fixtures, and plain white tile floor kept it firmly stuck in a previous decade.

The homeowners came to us with a clear vision — and a stunning reeded vanity they had already fallen in love with. Our job was to build an entire bathroom worthy of it.

The Vision: Warm, Timeless and Spa-Like

The homeowners had a clear aesthetic in mind — warm neutrals, natural textures, and fixtures that felt elevated without being cold. The reeded vanity they sourced set the tone perfectly: a wide, furniture-style piece in a rich wood finish with brass hardware, offering both a tactile surface detail and a grounded, organic warmth.

From there, every selection we made was designed to complement and elevate that anchor piece — without competing with it.

The Work: What Hubley Built

Walk-In Shower

The fiberglass tub surround was removed entirely and replaced with a fully tiled walk-in shower. We used an elongated picket tile on the walls — a clean, contemporary shape that adds vertical interest without overwhelming the space. The built-in niche is lined with a delicate herringbone mosaic tile, creating a subtle focal point that rewards a closer look.

A Carrara marble threshold and bench anchor the shower floor, and a frameless glass enclosure keeps the space feeling open and bright — allowing that skylight to do its job across the entire room.

Flooring

The plain white tile floor was replaced with a large-format marble-look porcelain in a soft, veined white. The irregular geometric pattern adds visual movement underfoot without competing with the other design elements — it's the kind of floor that looks simple at first glance and increasingly beautiful over time.

Vanity & Fixtures

The homeowners' reeded vanity became the centerpiece it deserved to be. We installed it with precision, fitting it into the space and connecting the plumbing to a new pair of warm brass widespread faucets. The white quartz countertop with subtle veining ties the vanity to the marble flooring, creating a cohesive palette from floor to counter.

Paired with two brass-framed mirrors and flanking sconces, the vanity wall now has a quiet symmetry that feels intentional and refined.

A Powder Room, Completely Reimagined

Powder rooms are often overlooked. They’re small, utilitarian, and usually inherited “as-is” when someone buys a home. But when done right, a powder room can be one of the most memorable spaces in the house.

This project is a perfect example of that transformation.

The Before: Functional, But Forgettable

When we first saw this space, it was doing its job—but not much more than that. The room featured a pedestal sink, beige tile flooring, partial-height tile wainscoting, and warm neutral walls. Everything was serviceable, but the overall feel was dated and lacked personality.

There was no storage, no visual depth, and no connection to the rest of the home’s design. It felt like a pass-through space rather than a destination.

The homeowners wanted something bolder. A room that felt intentional. Elevated. Finished.

The Vision: Dramatic, Timeless, and Tailored

The goal wasn’t just to “update” the powder room—it was to completely reimagine it.

Working closely with the homeowners, we leaned into contrast, texture, and craftsmanship. The design direction focused on rich, moody tones balanced with warm metals and classic detailing. Every element was chosen to feel cohesive and purposeful, not trendy or overdone.

This was about creating a powder room with presence.

The Transformation: From Basic to Statement Space

The finished space is almost unrecognizable from where it started.

A custom-built vanity anchors the room, offering much-needed storage while introducing furniture-style detailing. The dark finish adds depth and drama, while the stone countertop and warm brass hardware bring balance and refinement.

The walls were transformed with applied panel molding and a deep, layered paint finish below, paired with a patterned wallpaper above. The contrast adds texture and visual interest without overwhelming the space.

New lighting and a custom mirror complete the look, creating a warm, inviting glow that highlights the craftsmanship throughout the room. Even the flooring was upgraded to a rich, patterned wood-look tile, adding another layer of sophistication and durability.

From Family Home to Grandparent Haven

At Hubley Painting & Remodeling, our favorite projects are the ones that come full circle — the kind where we’re not just working on a house, we’re helping shape the next chapter of a family’s story. That was certainly the case with this recent transformation in Millis.

We first met these wonderful clients a few years ago when we renovated their family kitchen in collaboration with the talented Kim Macumber Interiors. The project turned out beautifully, but one moment has always stayed with us: just after we completed the kitchen, the couple’s daughter got married. When the photographer arrived, she was so taken with the space that she insisted on taking wedding portraits in the kitchen! It was an unexpected honor, and we couldn’t agree more with her sentiment — the space truly was stunning.

Recently, this couple made the bittersweet decision to downsize from the home where they had raised their children. They chose a smaller home in Millis, one with just enough space to entertain their grandchildren and enjoy their new phase of life.

But the home they purchased was in rough shape — dark, dated, and chopped up into small rooms that didn’t fit their new vision. That’s where the Hubley team came in.

We opened up the floor plan to create a bright, welcoming space that flows seamlessly from kitchen to dining to living room. In a nod to their previous kitchen, we used the same colors and tile — a choice that makes the new home feel both fresh and familiar. The new kitchen offers ample workspace and room to gather, perfect for family dinners or baking with the grandkids.

We also added a custom built-in in the living room to house the TV and provide display space for treasured collectibles and photos. With hidden storage below, it’s both functional and beautiful — a thoughtful detail that helps keep the new space tidy and organized.

This project is a perfect example of how downsizing doesn’t mean downgrading. With smart design, intentional color choices, and a layout built around the way our clients want to live, we were able to create a space that feels like home from day one.

That was exactly the goal for this Holliston family of five. They came to us looking to transform a single underutilized room into a space that could work overtime for their busy household. With school schedules, work-from-home needs, laundry for five, and a little bit of crafting thrown in, this room had to do it all. We were more than happy to deliver.

A Laundry Room That Works as Hard as They Do

On one side of the room, we designed a laundry area with storage, flow, and function in mind. We installed rich green custom cabinetry with a warm stained wood countertop—adding texture and contrast while maximizing folding space. Upper cabinets conceal supplies, and we included a deep utility sink with a matte black faucet for soaking and handwashing.

The backsplash? A subtle elongated ceramic tile that’s easy to clean but adds just enough visual interest. The washer and dryer are tucked neatly under the counter, giving this space a clean, streamlined look. Soft-close hinges and durable materials make the space feel elevated while still standing up to everyday use.

A Thoughtful Built-In Workspace

Across from the laundry zone, we created a fully custom desk area to support all the family’s other needs. Whether it’s homework time, bill-paying, crafting, or running a business from home, this desk is built to flex.

We installed matching green base drawers and upper cabinets for plenty of closed storage, along with a floating wood shelf for accessible organization or display. Integrated task lighting ensures functionality any time of day—but let’s not forget the gorgeous natural light that streams in through the window just beside it.

Beneath that same window, we added a custom window seat—complete with hidden storage and soft-close lids to keep little fingers safe. It’s a cozy spot for reading, relaxing, or just taking a breather between tasks.

Blending Old with New for a Seamless, Sophisticated Space

At Hubley Painting & Remodeling, we believe that great design doesn’t always mean starting from scratch. Sometimes, the most thoughtful transformations come from working with what’s already there—and knowing how to make it better. This recent kitchen project is a perfect example of that approach.

Our clients loved the bones of their kitchen but knew it wasn’t functioning well for their growing family. Some parts felt crowded, others underutilized, and the overall layout lacked balance. Instead of tearing everything out, we took a smarter route: we reimagined the existing cabinetry—reshuffling where it made sense—and introduced new elements where needed. The result is a space that feels cohesive, elevated, and built to support the rhythm of daily life.

Elevating with Crown and Clean Lines

One of the first visual changes we made was adding crown molding to the tops of the upper cabinets. It’s a subtle detail, but one that makes a big impact—bringing the cabinets all the way up to the ceiling gave the entire space a more polished, finished look. It draws the eye upward, adding a sense of height and elegance.

A New Focal Point Over the Cooktop

Previously, the area above the cooktop featured decorative open shelving that didn’t serve much function and felt disconnected from the rest of the design. We removed it and built a custom range hood—something that not only adds proper ventilation but also anchors the kitchen with a beautiful focal point. It's now one of the first things you notice when you enter the space, and it sets the tone for the kitchen’s blend of style and substance.

A More Functional - and Beautiful - Island

The island, while centrally located, didn’t quite fit the space. It felt undersized and the overhang for seating left the stools awkwardly clustered. We extended the island to better match the scale of the room and added more storage and workspace in the process. Now, seating runs the full length of the island, offering plenty of elbow room for meals, homework, or casual conversation. To warm up the space and add visual interest, the homeowners chose to keep the island in its natural wood finish. That natural element was thoughtfully echoed in the trim detail of the custom stove hood, tying the two focal points together and creating a cohesive, inviting look.

Creating Balance and Flow with Cabinetry

One of the trickiest areas in the old kitchen was the wall with the built-in desk. Flanked by a large pantry cabinet on one side and the refrigerator on the other, the layout felt heavy and visually off-balance. To fix this, we relocated the pantry to the far end—where the desk used to be—and filled in the space between it and the fridge with functional base and glass-front upper cabinets. This not only balanced the tall, weighty pieces, but also gave the family more usable counter space and elegant display storage. To the right of the fridge, we added another bank of cabinets, uppers and lowers, for even more smart storage.

Adding Character to the Eating Nook

In the adjacent eating area, an existing brick fireplace felt a bit off-center and out of place. We added brick to center it and painted the whole thing in Benjamin Moore Cloud Cover, the same shade as the surrounding walls. The result is a cozy, charming feature that grounds the nook with character and warmth, while still feeling clean and cohesive.

Thoughtful Design Selections

Of course, a remodel wouldn’t be complete without beautiful finishes—and the homeowners made some stunning choices. The countertops are Bianco Rhino marble, soft and elegant with just the right amount of movement. Cabinets were painted Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter, a timeless greige that pairs beautifully with the artisan white tile backsplash. Fixtures include the polished nickel Edalyn kitchen faucet by Kohler, and for hardware, they selected the Kara knob and Ascendra pull from TopKnobs, both in a warm honey bronze finish.

This kitchen now functions beautifully for the family who calls it home—and it does so with style. It’s proof that with the right design approach, a thoughtful mix of old and new can feel entirely fresh.

A Kitchen Refresh with Class, Warmth, and a Touch of Blue

At Hubley Painting and Remodeling, we love helping clients fall back in love with their homes—and this recent kitchen transformation is a perfect example of just how far our Kitchen Refresh Program can go.

Our clients came to us with a vision: a brighter, more functional kitchen that still felt inviting and timeless. They opted for our full Kitchen Refresh experience, which includes cabinet painting , new quartz counters , a ceramic glazed subway tile backsplash , a new Kohler sink and faucet , and sleek TopKnob hardware . But they didn’t stop there.

To add even more charm and architectural interest, they chose an enhancement from the program: custom crown molding for their existing cabinets. This small detail made a big visual impact, tying everything together and giving the cabinetry a finished, elevated look.

But the real showstoppers?

A brand-new custom-built island , painted in Benjamin Moore Kensington Blue , designed to better fit the space and increase functionality.

The removal of the over-the-range microwave, replaced with a custom-built hood for a clean, high-end feel.

The rest of the cabinets were finished in the ever-elegant Benjamin Moore Seapearl , creating a calm and sophisticated backdrop. The quartz countertops feature a creamy white base with delicate veining in gray, beige, and warm taupe , coordinating beautifully with the ceramic glazed backsplash that picks up on those same tones. The result? A kitchen that’s bright, warm, classy , and built for everyday enjoyment.

And we weren’t the only ones who enjoyed being in the space. Rosie, the homeowners’ sweet golden retriever, quickly made friends with our crew and would’ve preferred to supervise us from the center of the kitchen rather than be sent outside. We can’t blame her—this kitchen is made for gathering, relaxing, and being together.

We’re so happy with how this project turned out—and even happier that our clients are thrilled with their new space.

Gone is the old, built-in blue tub/shower combo. In its place is a fresh, updated tub with tile installed all the way to the ceiling, which instantly elevates the room and gives the illusion of more space. Chrome fixtures in the shower tie in seamlessly with the rest of the hardware.

To finish the transformation, we replaced the dated laminate flooring with contemporary, large-scale rectangular tiles. With subtle slate undertones, they bring warmth and texture while coordinating beautifully with the gray tones in the vanity, walls, and shower tile.

A Mudroom Makeover for a Busy Family

At Hubley Painting & Remodeling, we love turning underused and awkward spaces into beautiful, functional areas that make everyday life easier—and this recent mudroom transformation is a perfect example.

For a young family with three kids, the space off the garage wasn’t doing them any favors. What should have been a hardworking transition zone was instead a tight, cramped hallway with just enough room for a washer and dryer tucked inside a double-door closet. A small coat closet just up a step created a frustrating bottleneck: when the door was open, it completely blocked the main passage into the house. Even the sliding door in front of the laundry area, a workaround for the tight hallway, made it tricky to access both the washer and dryer at the same time.

The homeowners decided it was time to rethink this space. They relocated the laundry to another area of the house, giving us the green light to reimagine the entryway into a streamlined, stylish, and highly functional mudroom.

The Transformation

Once the closets were removed, our team had a clean slate to work with. We installed a beautiful, durable tile floor—perfect for a family of five coming and going in all kinds of weather. It replaced a dated mix of white tile and hardwood, instantly modernizing the space and making it much more family-friendly.

The real star of the makeover is the custom-built cabinetry. Designed with both form and function in mind, the new unit includes a thoughtful mix of open hooks for coats and backpacks, closed closet-style storage, shelving for shoes, and cubbies for quick-grab items like keys, purses, and sunglasses.

Our carpentry team custom-built the unit to seamlessly incorporate the step in the hallway, giving the entire installation a cohesive and intentional look. The cabinetry is painted a rich navy blue, contrasted beautifully with brushed silver hooks, handles, and pulls. The stained wood bench beneath the hooks adds warmth and texture, making the whole space feel welcoming while standing up to daily wear and tear.

The clients also chose to upgrade their old tub-and-shower combo to a sleek, glass-enclosed shower. This change instantly modernized the space, creating an open and airy feel. The warm brass fixtures throughout the bathroom provide a striking contrast against the organic, monochromatic color scheme, tying everything together with a refined elegance.

A True Transformation

With carefully curated materials, thoughtful lighting, and a serene color palette, this bathroom remodel has completely redefined the space. What was once a disjointed, outdated room is now a spa-like retreat that feels connected, calming, and effortlessly stylish.

At Hubley Painting & Carpentry, we believe a home should reflect the people who live in it. For our latest project, we had the privilege of helping a client bring a touch of her Scandinavian roots into her family’s home. The heart of this transformation was the kitchen—previously small and cramped, it needed a refresh that would blend beauty, function, and the minimalist elegance of Scandinavian design.

Opening Up the Space

One of the most impactful changes was removing a wall and extending the kitchen into what was once the dining room. This not only expanded the space but also allowed for additional cabinetry, achieving a clean and clutter-free look—a hallmark of Scandinavian interiors. The result is a bright, open-concept kitchen that is as functional as it is beautiful.

A Blend of Contrast and Warmth

Designer Brenda Chiaradonna, of House of Gray and White, curated a timeless palette that balances contrast with warmth. The perimeter cabinets, painted crisp white, create a fresh and airy feel, while the navy blue island adds a striking focal point. All cabinetry features classic shaker-style doors, reinforcing the clean lines and simplicity of Scandinavian aesthetics.

Thoughtful Details and Artful Touches

No Scandinavian-inspired kitchen is complete without an appreciation for craftsmanship and natural materials. Wood floating shelves in a cozy kitchen corner and above the beverage bar introduce warmth and texture, complementing the sleek design. The backsplash, a staple of any kitchen renovation, is a combination of classic white subway tile and a stunning accent over the stove—white hexagon tiles outlined in soft gray, adding subtle depth and dimension.

A standout addition to the space is a custom-built bench below the bay window in the former dining room. This inviting nook not only enhances the home's warmth and charm but also serves multiple purposes—offering a bright and cozy place to rest your feet while cooking, curl up with a book, or tackle homework. It’s a perfect example of how thoughtful design can make a home feel both stylish and lived-in.

The existing cabinets were in good shape, so rather than replacing them, we preserved their structure and gave them a modern update. This included painting the cabinets and upgrading to sleek shaker-style doors and drawers for a timeless look. We also added an inset panel facade to the peninsula, providing a clean, custom touch that elevated the space’s overall aesthetic.

Sometimes, small changes make the biggest difference. We removed the valance over the window, opening up the view and creating a more streamlined appearance. The rope detail on the crown molding was also removed, allowing for a simpler, more contemporary profile.

When you renovate a bathroom that hasn’t changed in decades, then the result is certain to be impactful. Our clients have lived in their home for over 40 years, and it is filled with a lifetime of memories from raising their children to enjoying their grandparent years but their ensuite bathroom was ready for a major refresh.

A Home Full of History

This couple’s home has been their haven for over four decades, filled with love, laughter, and cherished milestones. While many areas of their home had been updated over the years, the bathroom remained untouched, retaining its dated fixtures and design. They dreamed of an updated and, most importantly, functional space that better suited their needs and aesthetic preferences.

The Challenge

The existing bathroom presented a few unique challenges. The lighting was dim and the color palate even dimmer. The aging fixtures were tired and didn’t function as well. The shower was particularly dark and cramped, especially for the tallest homeowner. It was also lacking storage. Our team at Hubley Painting & Remodeling needed to reimagine the space while maintaining the structural integrity of the home.

Transformed to Modernize

Prior to a project photoshoot, I will gather "before" pictures so our photographer can capture similar angles. For whatever reason, that did not happen with this project so my first experience with this space was seeing the transformation. I am shock that the before images are the same space.

The organic cabinet color, white tile and countertops and the warmth of the wood on the stove hood paired beautifully and create a beautiful backdrop for design elements in the space. The warm cast of light from the undercabinet lighting and island pendants make it a dreamy space to work in.

This stunning kitchen utilized existing cabinetry and some new cabinetry. To begin, the entire kitchen was demoed. The old cabinets were removed and the tile flooring ripped up. Some of the existing cabinet bases were than placed back in the space and new cabinetry was built around it to create this functional layout.

The Hubley Team incorporated some custom made pieces into the space to fit the culinary needs of our client. The homeowners are diligent composters and wanted a receptacle incorporated in the kitchen to collect the food waste. A cutting board is strategically placed over the compost bin so food scraps can fall down into the bin. Below is a drawer for vegetable storage.

Surround the cooktop are two pull-outs keeping the necessary cooking instruments within an arm's distance. Carefully organized and labeled spice jars make the process that much easier.

This beautifully space is perfect for cooking, gathering and entertaining.

Lovely in Green

Refreshed for Impact

This statement wall has delivered the "wow" factor as evidenced by the audible gasp of those who enter to the space for the first time. The creamy white walls, mix of white and green cabinetry, green glass tiles the beautiful gold finishes coordinate so beautifully with the botanical wallpaper. The space is simply perfect.

This stunning kitchen utilized existing cabinetry and some new cabinetry to create this functional and aesthetically pleasing space.

The small bank of green cabinetry is a mixture of old cabinet bases and new bases built to fill the unused wall space. The clients wanted this area to function as storage and a bar area so special drawers were built as requested to hold wine and liquor bottles.

At the opposite end of the kitchen, the refrigerator remained in the same place but the pantry was relocated next to the fridge. The cooktop and stove were relocated.

A new Kohler sink and a Kohler faucet were installed where the existing sink sat. The brighter colors and undercabinet lighting make it a brighter and happier place to wash dishes.

Moving the cooktop and stove to the longer wall of the kitchen makes it feel less cramped and provides ample work space to either side. A microwave drawer was built into the cabinetry adjacent to the stove. The green glass tile backsplash makes such a beautiful statement paired with the new stove hood.

Cabinet inserts were added to the space to increase efficiency and functionality. The pull out cabinets to either side of the stove house all the tools and goods needed when cooking. A pull out for garbage and recycling was placed next to the sink.

The green island does a beautiful job complimenting the wall paper. The Top Knobs brushed gold hardware pairs beautifully with the cabinet color. The counter over hang allows for seating on 2 sides of the island.

This space with its carefully curated design choices is a showstopper.

Our clients' home is beautiful filled with carefully curated furnishings and art. The kitchen was almost perfect with its well functioning layout and ample space for cooking, entertaining and gathering. Refreshed to Preserve the Historical Character

Our clients are the stewards of a beautiful home built in the late 1800s. They have worked hard to preserve the historical charm and character while blending in modern comforts. The homeowners were ready to update the kitchen with some more contemporary design details which made this space a perfect fit for the kitchen refresh program. The newly painted cabinets make the gorgeous wood beams a focal point in the space enhanced by the new countertops and tile backsplash.

On top of the kitchen refresh program, the homeowners decided to upgrade and add additional carpentry work for better functionality. Our team shifted the sink so it now sits in the middle of the counter rather than the awkward corner. The last cabinet on the peninsula curved in slightly so our team straightened the line widening the space slightly. They also expanded the cabinet so it could hold a microwave drawer. The old microwave was replaced by a stainless steel stove hood to match the new stainless steel appliances.

The new design elements accentuate the historical charm while the enhanced functionality preserves the home's original character.

Refreshed for a Clean & Minimal Look

Our clients in Lexington recently moved to this home from across the globe. To help settle in, they wanted their house to feel like home. The layout of the kitchen functioned well for their family but they didn't feel the aesthetic fit their clean and minimal style making them a perfect candidate for our kitchen refresh program.

The painted cabinets and freshly painted walls lightened up the space. The new counters and white tile backsplash updated the kitchen giving it a clean and crisp feel. It is hard to believe we have come to the Sunday afternoon of the school year. Our summer days are fleeting and many of us will find ourselves back to stricter schedules and routines all too soon.

As a mother, I have learned the best way to survive the school year is being organized, but that is easier said than done. This time of year finds me creating spaces to collect the backpacks and papers which will accompany my children home each day. Areas are being carved out for homework and loaded with pencils and paper so there are no excuses to get out of homework.

At Hubley Painting & Carpentry we can make the transition back to school much easier by making the spaces in your home work for you. We specialize in custom cabinetry sprayed with our cabinet painting technique. We can build lockers and mudroom storage or create work spaces in the nooks of your home. A Repurposed Workspace

The Hubley team recently turned these bookshelves into a high functioning workspace for a busy family. Homework doesn’t seem so bad when you have a beautiful space to do it in.

Mudroom Lockers

We all know the sliding door closets with lots of wide open space making it impossible to locate anything. Our clients were tired of backpacks, sports equipment and shoes piled up on the bottom of the closet. The Hubley team replaced the closet with lockers and extra storage cubbies. Now everyone has their own space and the clutter is out of sight.

A Library Office Space

Our clients wanted to take an unused formal living room and turn into an office space with plenty of shelves for books. The Hubley Team worked off of inspiration photos to create this beautiful focal wall which gave the room purpose. Our client have a great space to work from when they are home and the kids can also use the space for homework.

The Evolution of a Kitchen Island

You do not need to gut your space to have the kitchen of your dreams. Our crews are experts at renovating your space by repurposing existing cabinetry and some newly built pieces to give you the look you want.

This island project is a good example of using a mix of old and new to get a custom look.

This was our client’s kitchen before they purchased the home. As you can see, the island was small and only offered room for 2 stools.

The client wanted to purchase a larger refrigerator and stove so our crew used one of the cabinets from the back wall to add more storage and sitting room to the island.

Another cabinet base was built at the end to house the microwave and add even more storage and work space.

Our carpenters trimmed out the island and gave it a presence in the room with a facade matching the rest of the kitchen trim work.

Several coats of paint ties all the new carpentry together with the original pieces.

The end result is stunning. It’s hard to believe it is the same kitchen. The space has gone from a builder grade to a cook’s dream kitchen.

Milton Client Makes their House a Home

Our clients moved into a beautiful home in Milton. It offered lots of space for entertaining and for their growing family but the house needed updates and some customization to meet the needs of the homeowners. The Hubley team worked hard to transform this house into the space our clients envisioned.

Throughout the house, the floors were given a darker stain. In the foyer, the post at the bottom of the railing was customized for a more contemporary look and a coat of paint was added to the walls to freshen the space.

The original kitchen was beautifully designed with lots of storage and prep space but the homeowners wanted it to feel brighter and more open. The cabinets were painted and new counters and backsplash were installed to achieve this look. Crown molding was added to the soffits to give the kitchen more stature.

The home had a great pantry space but it wasn’t functional for the homeowners. We think the end result is beautiful and offers so much usable storage for this family.

The living room boasts the biggest transformation. Updates to the coiffured ceiling and the built-ins make this space look amazing. We love how the cabinetry beautifully incorporates the windows. The custom features of this room makes it look grand and more befitting of this home.

The third floor was unfinished when the home was purchased. Flooring was put in, drywall hung, baseboards added and railings installed. Built-in cabinetry at one end of the room will be ideal for toys, media equipment or storage depending on how the homeowners choose to use this new space.

In the bedroom, our carpenters updated built-ins to make the storage more functional for the homeowners and incorporated the TV into the space for some late night binge watching.

Prior to painting, slight changes were made to the island in this kitchen giving the milwork a more contemporary feel and making it more functional. The cabinets were adjusted to make the counter one level. One cabinet was removed to create more seating. However, the drastic transformation was the result of the newly painted cabinets.

Repurposing a Kitchen Space

A Farmhouse Kitchen

Last spring we had the privilege of partnering with Bees Knees Interior Design on one of our client projects. Anne-Marie, the homeowner, wanted to open and lighten up her kitchen as well as add design elements that brought some farmhouse character to the space. We think it turned out fantastic!

Carpentry Details

Our carpenter’s work can be seen throughout this room. In order to give the homeowner some more space in the kitchen, an additional cabinet was added which features open shelving and a plate rack and closed storage below. The island was extended, widened and given a new façade to add to the character of the space. Every farmhouse kitchen needs a farmhouse sink so our carpenter repurposed the cabinet to to allow for the sink.

The room feels taller with the addition of the soffit over the cabinets drawing the eye right up to the ceiling. We love how the Bees carried the soffit over the slider and framed the view with beautiful curtains that give a nod to the island. On the other side of the curtains, a narrow bank of cabinets was built to balance the space.

A range hood blends seamlessly with the cabinetry replacing the microwave which was given a new home in a cabinet beside refrigerator. Finally, we love addition of the sweet corbels below all the upper cabinets.

Open Concept

Our crew opened this wall to allow a better view into the kitchen from the dining room. With such a beautiful kitchen, who wouldn’t want it to be viewed from every spot in the house.
