Part 3 – have we helped at all?

There are many things you need to consider when you are decorating you house. The easiest and least expensive way to change the vibe of your home is with paint. When people choose a color it’s personal, and it should be. If you are selling in the near future, I highly recommend consulting a decorator / stager to help pick colors you like, but will also help you sell your house down the road. Remember, it’s not your house anymore. Don’t take this personally, but there is no accounting for taste, and it is unlikely your taste will be the same as the people buying your house.

However, if you have no plans on selling your house then the world is your oyster. Paint the walls whatever colors you like (within reason). Make your home a reflection of you. You want your sunroom “canary yellow”? Knock yourself out. Who cares if your friends need sunglasses when they come over for tea. Most decorators can help you find colors you find appealing while ensuring your friends are not making fun of you behind your back.

One more thing, if you have young kids and you are letting them choose their color, then just let it go. No matter how awful you feel about their choice, just go with it. Let them have whatever color they like. Just shut the door when you have company.
